Kevin Smit, MD

Dr. Smit is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at CHEO.  His elective clinical practice is concentrated in hip preservation surgery and spinal deformity correction.  He regularly treats patients with various pediatric hip conditions including, DDH, Perthes, SCFE, tumour, deformity, infection and trauma.

His research includes a variety of work on hip preservation surgeries and patient outcomes.  He has helped develop and validate the Ottawa Classification system for Hip Dysplasia and is involved in research on the Modified Dunn Osteotomy and the treatment of SCFE.

He is an Executive member of the Canadian Pediatric Orthopedic Group (CPOG), which facilitates the academic and scientific exchange of thoughts and ideas between Canadian pediatric orthopaedic surgeons and creates invaluable opportunities for educational activities and collaborative research across Canada. and of POSNA.
