Tim Schrader, MD
Combining the training he received at Harvard Medical School while working with Michael Millis, MD, and Young-jo Kim, MD, as well as the Müller Foundation in Switzerland while working with Professor Reinhold Ganz, Tim Schrader, MD, developed a special interest in pediatric, adolescent and young adult hip preservation. and hip problems, including femoroacetabular impingement, hip dysplasia, Perthes, SCFE, coxa vara, labral tears and snapping hips. Dr. Schrader treats patients from infancy through young adulthood.
Dr. Schrader is Medical Director of the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Hip Program and is one of only a handful of orthopedic surgeons in the Southeast who performs surgical dislocations of the hip and Ganz periacetabular osteotomies. In addition to surgical dislocations of the hip and periacetabular osteotomies (PAOs), Dr. Schrader performs hip arthroscopy.
Dr. Schrader is active in several international study groups focusing on hip conditions. He was a founding member of the International Perthes Study Group. Dr. Schrader is the only International Hip Dysplasia Institute (IHDI)-provider in Georgia. IHDI physicians are those who participate in IHDI efforts with contributions above and beyond direct patient care for the advancement of hip dysplasia advocacy, research and education. Additionally, he is a member of the Hip Health Outcomes in Pediatrics (HOPe) Network. Dr. Schrader is a consulting associate for the Duke University Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, working in the yard, playing golf and going to the beach.
